BitGiving 2.0 — Crowdfunding redefined!

When we started building BitGiving in 2013, the idea was to create a engagement driven crowdfunding platform which not only made it easy for people to raise funds for their projects but also created a community for them to re-engage with.

In the last two years, we saw that vision coming to life. Our users were not only funding and referring campaigns to like-minded people, they were also sharing stories and engaging with others — and they kept coming back because it was never about the transaction, it was about the story and how they were making something happen.

As an entrepreneur, while it’s a great feeling to see your product working, there is also a constant itch to make it better. When we raised funds earlier this year, the first thing I jumped at was putting together our learnings and adding them to the platform. It was time to push the envelope further.

It took 3 months of hard work and working around the clock from the entire BitGiving team and today, I’m excited to share BitGiving 2.0 with all of you. Here are a few things that you should experience on the new platform:

Yes! We are taking the BitGiving community to the next level. We realised, it’s important to give our community a space to personalise where they can express more, engage more and in turn make more dreams come true.

You can not only personalise the page but you can also follow your friends, other campaigners & organisations, connect with influencers and discover the campaigns they are talking about! We believe that amazing things happen when like-minded people come together.

And there are a lot of other cool things on your profile like the Social Reach (which is my personal favourite). The higher your social reach, the bigger an influencer you become on BitGiving.

We have redesigned BitGiving from scratch. We are fans of the concept- ‘Design is not just what it looks like. Design is how it works’.

Hence, The biggest inspiration behind developing BitGiving 2.0 was to make the platform simpler than ever. The Campaign Builder is smoother, storytelling on the campaign page just got better and contributing to a campaign is faster, easier and safer!

Oh! And we’ve added fun elements like Milestones for the community to share and celebrate the beautiful stories coming to life!

With 2.0, we are going category agnostic. While we started out with a focus on campaigns for Social organisations and initiatives, we are now opening up BitGiving to creative and entrepreneurial campaigns as well — If you have a project, BitGiving is your platform!

Building a campaign on BitGiving now takes about 10 minutes — that’s it! With the new campaign builder, all you have to do is answer a few questions and your campaign is automatically generated.

Our campaign editor helps you edit and personalise it further. You can add tags to increase it’s chances of being discovered and even add images to your rewards.

If you’re a campaigner running a campaign right now or intending to do so soon, we’ve got it covered for you.

We want you to have better control on your campaign at every step. The campaign manager in BitGiving 2.0 gives you every detail about your campaign and is your own Broda/Jaarvis equivalent who tells you what to do next through personalised recommendations — according to how your campaign is doing and what is working for you. Apart from that, we have exhaustive checklists and resources — everything from press release templates to draft emails.

As a data-crazy entrepreneur, the Campaign manager has been one of my most ambition projects and I’m looking forward to your feedback on it! It’s super intelligent and we’re going to keep adding to it.

I kept the biggest announcement for the end. :) With 2.0, We are also introducing a new pricing structure.

Starting a BitGiving campaign is free, as it has always been but now Social projects can raise funds at 6% and Creative and Entrepreneurial projects can raise funds at 8% — a flat fee which is all inclusive and is on the amount of funds you raise on your campaign. (Yes, it’s going to be the lowest in the industry).
