Among different types of IT job markets that are currently blooming in the IT sector in Australia, this report holds the necessary findings and enlightenment.

According to clicks website (Ltd, 2023), these are the top 10 most demanded IT jobs in Australia in 2023.

The results were drawn on Clicks’ market research and recruitment data as well as the Australian Government jobs and skills data according to the website.

Also, from the ministers of the employment and workplace relations portfolio, (Government, 2021)these are the top 20 occupation demand for 2023.

From the findings, it’s proven that 3 occupations out of 20 demanded jobs are from IT sector in year 2023 namely Software and Application Programmers, ICT Business System Analysts and Database and System Administrators and ICT Security Specialists.

From these lists, for this report, I have concentrated on ICT Business and System Analyst job role and analysed the job role and researched for the obtainable data whereby I have found the relevant data and used Excel and Tableau to analyse and visualise the information.

Initially, numerous dataset for the relevant IT jobs were explored whereby top IT jobs in NSW in recent years were mainly targeted. However, the required dataset was challenging to find. Nonetheless, this report beholds the necessary output.

Roles and Responsibilities of ICT Business and System Analyst

First of all, the major responsibilities of a business and system analyst are found to be:

1. Business Analysis:

 Analysing business processes, workflows, and systems.

 Gathering and documenting business requirements.

 Conducting feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis.

 Developing business cases, project plans, and strategies.

 Creating and maintaining documentation.

 Facilitating communication between business and technical teams.

2. System Analysis:

 Analysing existing systems, software, and technologies.

 Identifying and documenting system requirements.

 Collaborating with technical teams on solution design.

 Conducting impact assessments and risk analyses.

 Participating in software and technology selection.

 Developing and executing test plans.

 Providing technical guidance during implementation.

3. Stakeholder Management:

 Engaging with stakeholders to understand needs.

 Facilitating workshops and meetings.

 Building relationships and maintaining communication.

 Managing expectations and addressing conflicts.

 Presenting findings and updates to stakeholders.

4. Solution Evaluation:

 Collaborating with stakeholders to evaluate solutions.

 Assessing system performance and usability.

 Conducting post-implementation reviews.

Thus, researching on this job position has enlightened me about the actual roles and responsibilities it holds. The roles and responsibilities might differ in accordance to the need of a company or workplace, however in summary, a business analyst works to understand business needs, gather requirements, analyse data, improve processes, design.

solutions, manage projects, communicate with stakeholders, document findings, and contribute to continuous improvement.

According to labour market insights and according to ABS Labour Force Survey data, the following results were found for the job role. (Australia, 2023)

Also, according to JSA, over the period of five years from November 2021 to November 2026, the number of ICT Business and System Analyst workers are expected to grow strongly and is likely to reach 51,200 by 2026.

According to the research, it was found that the job role was highly valued and demanded on professional, scientific and technical services with the least in information media and telecommunication. It was also found out that ICT Business and System Analyst job role is demanded on other industries as well.

Takes responsibility for deploying functional solutions, such as creating, adopting and implementing system test plans, which ensures acceptable quality and integrity of the system.

Creates user and trainer documentation, and conducts formal training classes.

Develops functional specifications for use by system developers.

Uses data and process modelling techniques to create clear system specifications for the design and development of system software.

Acts as a central reference and information source, providing guidance and assistance in the system project decision making process.

Parallel to ICT Business and System Analyst, rendering to data, it is displayed that Business Analysts work in the industries like Professional, scientific and technical services, financial and insurance services, public administration and safety, information media and telecommunications.

During the course of this report, a comprehensive exploration of the IT job market in Australia and the most sought-after positions was conducted. Extensive research was carried out on various aspects related to these high-demand job roles, specifically focusing on ICT Business and System Analysts as well as Business Analysts. Considerable effort was dedicated to obtaining related and informative data, which was subsequently utilized to create insightful data analysis and visualizations utilizing Excel and Tableau. The experience gathered from this endeavour proved to be highly educational, providing valuable insights into the above-mentioned job roles.
