OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Anthropic’s Claude AI — which one to choose and why?

I have been a ChatGPT Plus user for about 4+ months now. The journey is a roller-coaster ride. And it’s been a long time since I did not check (my fault) for the presence of the Claude AI launch and its usage in countries like India.

I still remember trying to use the Claude during its early launch using a VPN, but in vain.

Recently, while reading through the Medium daily digest email — I bumped upon a few articles that said that Claude outperforms ChatGPT across all major benchmarks.

Benchmark comparison with other models
Based on various kinds of questions

Now is the testing time — I quickly created a Claude.ai account and started posting it a lot of questions and many of them based on Machine Learning. To my surprise — I got better results than ChatGPT Plus.

But note that I did use only the free model — Sonnet and the results were amazing.

So, what’s next?? Since I am already a Plus user for ChatGPT — its high time that I buy a Claude AI Pro (ps: both ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro versions cost $23.60 inc GST in India). I will be able to test using the Opus model of Claude then.

Before I do that — are there any drawbacks in the overall Claude ecosystem??! The answer right now — some have reviewed Claude and have conveyed that Claude “hallucinates” slightly higher than GPT. But, wait — I could not justify and cross-check their reviews. I still feel Claude gives better results and in a more precise manner than GPT.

Some have also argued that the Claude does not have a full-fledged code interpreter — but believe me — Claude “code interpreter” is just awesome. I have tested it personally, and it works like a charm.

Ok lets conclude… We are in an era of new technology based on AI. Large language models are still in their inception and we shall see better and human alike results in the coming days…

Also, for people who are interested to custom build a LLM — don't miss the blog and the upcoming book by Sebastian Raschka. I will post the link below for the same:

The book is to be launched in early 2025 by Manning publishers.

If you liked reading this article, do share it and read more of my other articles as well….

Till the next time — Adios!
