The perfect excuse to visit Lisbon: Web Summit 😇

Hello! November will be a great month for our city due to The Web Summit. I’ve attended last year and the vibe was great. A friend of mine is coming for the 1st time to Lisbon and to the Web Summit and asked me to put recommendations together.

I thought that I could just share them anyway 😏

Best neighborhood to stay

Don’t stay close to Web Summit. Web Summit will take place in Oriente, Parque das NaçÔes. The area is ok but to enjoy Lisbon and get the vibe of the city stay somewhere near Bairro Alto and Cais SodrĂ©. It’s the best nightlife in Lisbon and where most of the networking events will take place.

Best bars around Bairro Alto and Cais Sodré

My top picks to go out at night are PensĂŁo do Amor in Cais SodrĂ©, I really like Park Bar in Bairro Alto (if it’s not raining), for a quite place check O Purista — Barbiere in Bairro Alto and after 2am definitely go to Lux in Santa ApolĂłnia.

Best places to eat dinner in Lisbon

I think you can eat good food basically everywhere in Lisbon, but if I was coming to Web Summit these would be my top places to go out for dinner. If you want to go with the crowd or you have a big group then go to Time Out Market in Mercado da Ribeira (Cais SodrĂ©), if you want to have a business meeting 101 go to CafĂ© de SĂŁo Bento (only if you like steak) in Estrela or Via Graça in Graça (a bit more fancy but the food and the views are outstanding) and finally for a small group don’t miss Bairro do Avilez in Bairro Alto.

Places to visit if you have a day or two to spare

It’s difficult to pick just a few, it really depends on what you like and what kind of person you are. I would recommend Castelo de SĂŁo Jorge and Miradouro da Graça (for the sunset), they are close by. Go to Terreiro do Paço and take a tram to BelĂ©m, check out Torre de BelĂ©m, Mosteiro dos JerĂłnimos and don’t forget to stop for the famous portuguese tarts at PastĂ©is de BelĂ©m. If you have time take a day trip to Sintra, it’s just one of the most beautiful towns in the world, it’s less than 1 hour train or driving from Lisbon.

Sintra — Palácio da Pena

My final recommendation

Use Talkifly to book your trip to Lisbon, it’s a new brand portuguese startup — real time travel assistants via chat. I’m co-founder :) Our focus is business travel, our travel experts know Lisbon by heart and they are more then happy to suggest the best hotels, to sort out flights if you need and to answer any questions you may have during your stay in Lisbon. It’s free to use and feedback is heartwarming.

Enjoy your trip!
