8 of the Best Content Marketing YouTube Videos
These videos contain a wealth of information on content marketing
When you’re looking for a music video or a how to do something video, you probably jump on YouTube. But have you ever thought of using YouTube to learn more about content marketing?
YouTube has a surprisingly amount of quality videos that cover content marketing, including ones by powerhouses like CMI, Neil Patel and GaryVee. But don’t dismiss lesser-known names — they have some great videos, too.
Below I talk about eight of my favorite videos on content marketing and what they cover. Let’s get started!
What Does Content Marketing Look Like in 2019 — Neil Patel
This is a great, short (running just under six minutes) by Neil Patel. In it, he discusses how today’s blogosphere is competitive, how you can compete and what content marketing looks like in today’s competitive environment.
This is a great resource by someone who helped pioneer content marketing in the first place.
Content Marketing Strategy — Joe Pulizzi
This one is a bit longer at just under an hour, but still a great resource. Joe Pulizzi is the founder of Content Marketing Institute and an expert on content marketing. He talks about how to turn a brand-centric content marketing strategy into one that’s a powerful acquisition channel that churns out real ROI.
This one is from 2015, but the strategy steps he lays out still apply today. It’s definitely worth a watch.
Content Marketing Strategy 2019 — Chris ‘Kubby’ Kubbernus
Kubby is the founder of Kubb&Co, a digital agency located in Copenhagen, and was named as a top marketer to follow by Mashable. He’s a smart guy and, thankfully, shares his wisdom through his videos.
In this 12 minute video, Kubby talks about key areas brands should be focusing on in 2019 in order to have a great content marketing strategy. He also goes over: how to fix mistakes you’re currently making, using data in content marketing, how to milk your content and how to make content people actually want. It’s a lot of information packed into a short video.
The Story of Content: Rise of the New Marketing — CMI
Content Marketing Institute released a documentary on how content marketing came into being, and it’s a fascinating watch. If you’ve ever wanted to learn the history behind content and how it became such a powerhouse, you need to watch this. At just 44 minutes, it’s well worth your time.
From the description:
It explores the evolution of content marketing through the eyes of the world’s biggest leading brands such as Red Bull, Kraft and Marriott; and marketing influencers, including Joe Pulizzi, Ann Handley, Scott Stratten, Jay Baer and more. Featuring case studies from early pioneers to today’s marketing innovators, you’ll learn how content marketing has been–and will continue– to change business and media forever.
How to Tell a Story in Your Content Marketing — HubSpot Academy
Did you know that HubSpot has an academy that you can take courses and get certifications from? They even have a content marketing one, and that’s where this video comes from.
This 16-minute video is just one of the modules from their content marketing course. It talks about why storytelling is the foundation of your content marketing and how to use it effectively (hint: it’s more than what you write on your website, blog or social media).
If you haven’t checked out the courses HubSpot offers, I highly recommend them. I’ve taken (and passed) the content marketing certification course and I was impressed by how thorough it was. If you’re new to the industry, or just want to make sure your base knowledge is up-to-date, it’s a great, free resource.
The Magical Science of Storytelling — David JP Phillips
I can’t stress how important storytelling is to your content. Plus, what video list is complete without a TED Talk?
This TED Talk by David JP Phillips talks about the actual science behind storytelling and why our brains are wired to respond to them. It’s a great, nerdy look into a key component of any content marketing strategy, told by a masterful speaker.
Top 4 Types of Video to Use to Market Your Business

Video is necessary to stand out from the crowd. In this video, Erin shares the best types of video to drive traffic to your business. At just under 10 minutes, it’s worth a view.
Quality vs. Quantity: Creating a Content Strategy in 2019 — GaryVee
GaryVee is an insanely successful marketer and public speaker. In this video, from 2018, GaryVee talks about the debate of quality vs. quantity, a controversial topic in the content marketing world.
As you can always expect from him, GaryVee provides amazing insights. The catch, however, is that this talk is just over an hour long. So be ready for a long watch… and probably get some paper and a pen to take a lot of notes.
Videos are a great way to stay up-to-date on the industry, especially if you can’t afford to go to a conference or event. Most of the events or the speakers will put up videos of them speaking, so you can still get great insights on current trends, pitfalls and best practices.
