This is one of the phoniest and most hypocritical speeches I’ve seen in a long time. The time to speak out about a broken Senate was eight years ago when Mitch McConnell declared that his goal, as leader of the Senate, was NOT to pass legislation to make the U.S. a stronger, fairer country but to “make Obama a one-term president.” Maybe you should have called him out when he said that even if he got 100% of what he wanted in a bill, he would oppose it if it was something President Obama supported. Maybe you should have roared with outrage when the Senate failed to act on a historically high number of President Obama’s nominations to the bench, hoping to seize them for a Republican president. And maybe you should have brought the place to a halt until it held hearings and a vote on President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, and certainly it was imperative for you to block the vote on the illegitimate Neil Gorsuch. Maybe you could still demand that he resign since he is the stepchild of a broken Senate. And maybe you could have voted against the deceptive process on a bill that will negative impact tens of millions of lives, bankrupt families and cause our economy to go into a nosedive. You did none of this.
