Letter

Dear Dan,
It’s been a while since we met each other. Last time you insist on using Facebook messenger for chat, and to be clear, let’s keep this way like we used to. It’s not that I’m against technological advances, but it feels more sincere this way. Honest from my heart.
I’m sitting on an old wood bench, nearby to Torrens River. Autumn will end in a week, and I can sense the winter coldness at my fingertips. I’m taking 5 days leave after working non-stop 6 days a week since January, nothing planned in mind but, I might take a flight to Melbourne tonight to pay Uncle Red a visit and hey, I can go to your favourite Indonesian restaurant- Blok M. Could you imagine having a grilled beef in a rainy day?
Everything is getting tougher these days since I started working here as a management trainee. Too many meetings and lack of sleep. You said that if I bring work home that an indicator i should find another job. Maybe you’re right. Or not. Who knows this will be my breakthrough? If i push myself a bit more, a new door will open afterwards? My coworkers said a few rival companies are closely observing this project. If it’s a success then, probably they would jump into it, and offer a higher paying job to us.
Do you still remember the woman that I described last year, with her picture included? Yeah, she dumped me. I thought I understood woman more after we turned 23, but I was wrong. She said that I should confess to the girl I liked, the moment when it happened to her, she was shocked (obviously) and rejected me in the next day.
I had a few girl crushes after her. Interestingly, she’s the only one that can make my heart beat faster. For the first time I understand what it means to feel butterflies in my stomach.
You probably face palming (is this even a word?) yourself while reading this section. I know, I know. I should move on and for your information Dan, I’m trying my best. Let me tell you first, she is still the best woman I met in my life. For now.
How about you right now? Still undecided whether to buy a Volvo or Volkswagen? For God sake, flip a coin Dan! Stop saying you will do this, will do that. Just do it…okay?
About the ‘trip’ we planned last time. You wanted to travel to Kathmandu, while I prefer Kashmir. Here are my reasons why I choose Kashmir over Kathmandu:
- It’s cheaper there
That’s it. I close this discussion. You can suggest a new destination then, we will decide again until both of us agree.
You said your boss is stupid last time. I do agree with that statement because you’re the one who is doing all the work and he claimed it all. Try to take a leave for a day, and see what he will do. You deserve a better boss. Our current job sucks, cats have better relationships than us, not enough money in the bank and too much expectations. These days, seems like there is no hope but, I guarantee you everything will be better.
I hope you stay happy and healthy. See you next time!
Cheers,
Anna
