Vexillum Dominus: Principum

Each day we will cover a flag of a different country (except today) somewhere on this planet that we call Earth (I may also occasionally sprint off on a tangent some days to do other flag related subjects). There will be info regarding the design, themes, stories, history, etc. In essence I want to write in a way that is informative and down right fun to read. Ever since first grade I have been considered the class clown, in order to obtain that title you need to have a decent amount of humor and bravado. This is the style that I will be writing in so as to constantly captivate you and capture your full attention when you make a visit to my blog.

Why Flags?

The reason I want to write about this is that flags have always interested me since I was a young child. Even though I have been interested, at a more surface level, I saw this assignment as an opportunity to learn more about them and share what I learn with my readers.

To be honest as well I believe people will genuinely find interest in my posts because you don’t have to be vexilloger (someone who studies flags) in order to think its cool that the Catalonian (Senyara) flag represents the blood-stained fingers of King Charles the Bald over his golden shield after battle. What a gangster right!?!

Now I’ve discovered how much of an important legend it was to the people of Barcelona while traveling in Spain and thought to myself wow flags really do represent so much interesting history, myths, and national pride. There is even one country, Mozambique, that has an AK-47 streaking across its standard.
