Jenny. I was right there, all those trenches as well. Canvasing, for Obama, phone banks, you name it. And even more so on the local level because that’s the one that is always going. I can tell you this, on day one, Obama took office and the the doors closed. We didn’t go watch tv, but there wasn’t anything else we were allowed to do. He took office and immediately went against everything that we had put him there to do. On day he had signing ceremony which was promised to close Guantanamo. It is still open and now permanent. I honestly don’t know what the signing was about, but the grassroots remained. It’s leader went and watched tv and started killing kids with drones for reasons, he doesn’t care to explain.
The grassroots remained for 8 years and we are the same people hoping this time, we won’t get used. Hillary is the politician Bill ran against back in the day. She is simply not a democrat and you can claim poise and grace, but I’d suggest the pay checks keep her chin up and her posture strong, not the good fight she hasn’t put up.
I read your whole thesis and I agree, we were starry eyed fools 8 years ago and we didn’t look at the situation or our candidate. Sanders has been looked over with a fine tooth come. He is, almost with a doubt the only politician in American history with a career as long as his that remained honest and didn’t cash in like everyone else. You could dig and come up with some dirt? You are the best in the world at that then, because you know they have been called in and paid to do just that for months.
I am not being negative about Hillary or baselessly attacking her. Look at her policies on Universal Health Care, Wall Street reform, economics. At best, she is a tired cynic who no longer believes in the principles of the left and should therefore, retire or at worst, she cashed in like almost everybody else.
I’m not asking you to hope for change here. We are all working for it and hope left 8 years ago. Now we just have to make Change.
