“Maddie, Maddie…”

The whispers still in her head… for a moment she thought: “is somebody calling me? Who is this? Where is this voice coming from?”. “Maddie… Maddie” and the velvety voice still calling her name softly, gently…

As with the same speed of a bolt, she could feel her heart beating profoundly and she found in the memory of time, a kind remembrance of her dad, calling her name and she still that little girl, running around and teasing him as all kids about the same age do

And she thought, “I carry you inside my eyes daddy, wherever you are it will always be there, the most beautiful and well cared for, love

“For being distant from me I carry your countenance, your enchanting smile, it does not even seem to be a distant memory as it has always been inside me”

It has been almost 10 years since her dad has passed away and she still could feel that morning when she received the news from her mom and the strange sensation of always having somebody by your side and all of a sudden this person is gone on a one-way trip with no return date…

For a moment she saw herself in a kind of emptiness, in a space in between worlds, in a limbo where all was dark and calm, empty, but strangely peaceful…

And her mind came back to reality and she opened her eyes and noticed it was already morning and she could feel the breeze coming through the little gap between the window and the sill

It was a drizzling morning, and she could hear the wind touching the branches of the oak tree outside her flat

Maddie woke up different that day… she felt the necessity to love, to live intensively and to remember how our days are numbered in this world, in this passage, and that we got to enjoy every interaction we have throughout our day and be grateful for another day, because we never know when it is going to be our last…
