Unapologetically Jennifer

Katniss Everdeen is a serious and brave character played in the Hunger Games. Tiffany is a bold and blunt character played in the Silver Linings playbook. Dominika Egorova is a strong and fearless character played in Red Sparrow. All these characters are played by Jennifer Lawrence. Although she might not be the most serious girl in her interviews, Jennifer displays many bold qualities from her character roles. She might not be fighting for her life but Jennifer is known for being seriously funny, goofy, bold, blunt and fearless.
It is no secret that J Law is one of the best “interviewees” in Hollywood. Many actors and actresses have a hard time opening up to the press with all the pressure that surrounds them. Many of us subconsciously expect them to act perfect all the time. Jennifer has a tendency to lay it all out there for everyone to see. She comes off as an open book. It is what makes her so lovable. She reminds us all that she is indeed human.
In 2017 Lawrence told Elle Magazine the stories of abuse Hollywood has brought to her. She wanted everyone to know sexual harassment in Hollywood goes far beyond Harvey Weinstein. She stated
“When I was much younger and starting out, I was told by the producers of a film to lose 15 pounds in two weeks.”
As time went on she realized it only got worse until she became more famous. Jennifer often tried to complain about the unrealistic weight requirements. Once a producer basically told her the following: I don’t know why everyone thinks you’re fat. I’d sleep with you. Lawrence is a huge voice for woman who struggle with the pressure to be thin and sexual harassment. She even said that for her, things got better the more famous she got, and she recognizes that as one of the problems. She states, “every human being, no matter how successful they are, should have the power to be treated with respect because they’re human.”
Jennifer opened up this year that she will be taking two years off from acting. Her last film “Mother” is a horror film that took a lot out of her emotionally and physically. She tore her diaphragm from hyperventilating in a scene from the movie and expressed she really needs to take some time for self-care. When Jennifer first got the script she told her manager
“I threw the script and was like, I can’t have this in my house. I don’t want this in my home. It’s an assault. It’s really assaulting. But that’s what makes it a masterpiece, and that’s what makes [director] Darren [Aronofsky] so brilliant, and that’s why I’ve always wanted to work with him.”
Jennifer went on to say this film had a huge impact on her psyche along with the hardships of fame. She stressed the importance of a mental health break at this time. Even stars face psychiatric hardships.

As the highest paid actress in 2016–2017, she was being interviewed every other day if she was not filming for a movie. In one of her interviews for the Hunger Games she spilled Altoids everywhere while her coworker was answering questions. “I can never just sit still.” Jen told US magazine. She often does interviews on the red carpet. She has told a red carpet interviewer “Im aware that you are asking questions, but all I can think about is getting fries.” That same evening she went on to speak at the Oscars and tripped on the way up the stairs. When she started speaking she giggled nervously saying “I’m sorry, I just did a shot.” Then went on to point out her embarrassing fall.
“You’re probably all wondering what was going through my head, and it was a really bad word that started with an F”

Some people would say Jennifer has a slight tendency to be outspoken. It is one of the many reasons her interviews are so popular. Jimmy Kimmel gave her full control to host her own interview with Kim Kardashian on the Tonight Show and nothing was off limits. Jen went on to ask anything from passing gas in front of Kanye West, to whether she believed Oj Simpson killed his wife Nicole Brown Simpson. Before introducing Kim, JLaw told the audience that she was a huge Kardashian fan. She admitted Keeping Up With The Kardashians was one of her guilty pleasures. She said “I have been obsessed with our first guest and her family for over a decade, in a very, very healthy way.”

Jennifer Lawrence thank you for showing the world that people with your success are human. Your stress on mental health is courageous and your passion for acting and changing the standards for women are inspiring. You’re classy ability to laugh at yourself helps the world see its perfectly fine to mess up, even as an A-list celebrity.
