One of the main products of carpentry derived from wood and with an important function in the construction like the ventilation and illumination, are the windows. Wood has been used since the beginning of history for the manufacture of windows, however, in recent years, the wooden bars for windows ( סורגים לחלונות) has lost market share by incorporating new materials such as aluminum and plastic.

Wood as a material brings numerous benefits to health, the environment, the economy and society. Many people associate the wooden windows that existed years ago, that were disengaging, had to be sanded …

Today the window industry of wood has progressed, it is an industry, and like all industries over the years progress. If we think of a car of the present and do not come to mind a “two horses”, why think of the wooden window we remember windows of the 60's?

Wood as a material and in its intrinsic properties offers great isolation. Therefore, using wood in the manufacture of windows, together with innovation in the manufacture and improvements in its construction allow the wooden window to offer an excellent insulation.

This insulation offered by wooden windows has also improved greatly thanks to the creation of new profiles such as recessed profiles and composite profiles, also the different components added to wooden windows, and the possibilities that exist in the use of the glasses according to the desired insulation.

Glass is considered a transmitting material and forms part of 80% of the window, so we can distinguish several types of glass: according to the thickness that is delimited by the profile, weight and loss of solar gain, according to the different varieties of the number of components of the chamber and therefore the degree of insulation.

Three varieties of glass can be distinguished according to the type of insulation:

If we want to reduce the amount of heat produced by direct solar radiation, we can choose a solar or solar control glass.

If you want to reduce the heat transfer from the inside to the outside, you can place a glass called low emissive. In this case the geographical situation in which the windows are located must be taken into account.

Ultimately, the selective glass exists, being a combination of those previously described. Allowing for better adaptation and insulation variability, depending on the situation of luminosity, solar factor and transmittance.
