A Few More Thoughts on the Inevitable Rise of Soccer in the U.S.

I think for this to happen it starts with a grass roots effort on the country’s part. With the success of our own men’s soccer team in events like the world cup, it will be a symbolic gesture that will help grow the U.S. interest, to take successful case studies like Portland or Seattle MLS teams/soccer communities and make it national. But in order to do this we have to have kids looking to play soccer when they grow up and not just basketball and football which can be done by offering camps, like a camp I started in my town introducing kids to soccer; establishing infrastructure that hybridizes basketball courts to soccer hard courts; and setting up leagues/travel teams that are not only accessible to the well off, as it is currently.
