Why don’t you update?

Being a developer & designer I greatly DISLIKE people who don’t update their apps. And they keep complaining about problems that was fixed some versions ago.

Do they think we try to make apps worse so its better to stay with the old version?
Are they too lazy to click an icon and select update?
Or do they think that the new version is good enough and the new version will not make any difference?

I find all the people choosing not to update, to be afraid of the future and is blocking the way for all others. Maybe the blocking is unconscious but blocking all the same.

If there is an app that was good, people like it. Then the developers figure out a better way do something which will be life improving for the user. But the user will never know, because they refuse to update. Then what if this app is a communication app and this new feature only works if the person you are trying to connect to has it as well. Then the user who doesn’t update will transfer his handicap to the one wanting to be part of the future.

It would be comparable to you finding a shortcut from home to work. Its awesome because its half the distance and half the time of the normal route. You tell this to your co-worker who you commute with. But the co-worker refuses to take that route, because NO. No reason! No explanation! Just a stubborn NO. Like these lovely persons who can never admit being wrong. So you are forced to take the long way!

Don’t stand in the way of the future! Join it!

This isn’t only for apps in your phone, it goes for everything!
Time is a constant and its constantly moving in one direction. Don’t stop and try to go against the flow!

Designers, Developers, Inventors and many others are inventing new and better systems, products, transport and so many things for themselves and everyone around them (including you). This to fix a problem or just to make something better.

You might not agree with everything! But did you try it before giving your opinion?

Don’t be afraid of trying something because its different.

I’m not saying all new things are good! But if we don’t try them, how would humanity ever evolve?
