In your case, this is the way to do it. There is nothing wrong with it, as clarified in the beginning of this section: “If you really want to, you can even fetch data on the server from a remote API backend. Just remember that the server will take longer to respond, because it has to wait for the request to complete before doing anything.”

This is clearly a distinction between Single Page Applications vs. rich-content websites that need to be SEO-friendly. I was thinking of the former when expressing my personal opinion, as clarified even further when I give the examples of Facebook and Slack.
