Since I know how to cook, does that entitle me to state Food Engineering should be learned in the kitchen, and that I as a master cook of rice, boiling it to perfection, knowing nothing about the chemistry involved should start working in the Food Industry entitling myself as Food Engineer because I saw a nice recipe online, and I can read it?
Well it won’t , and that’s the whole point both Joseph Brr and I are trying to make.
So please stop making Software development a joke, in which you can become an excellent Software Engineer and be entitled as such just because you followed some hello world recipe in a 3 month timespan. The whole point is actually because you are not taking the Engineering part seriously.

Software development is not about knowing / mastering the latest hip framework.

To comment on your “not everyone has the resources to take a degree” that fits any area, I’ve actually worked through my BSc and working through my MSc, so stop generalizing and saying this a yes please I’ll take this as a part time thing, ‘coz I can cooke some stuff at home’ and I’ll just apply to some job as a Software Engineer, ‘coz you know, I got the skillz’

tl;dr
It’s offensive to entitle yourself something you are not, when others took the trouble, the work, the sacrifice, and the years of life to really become something someone just states in the web without a meaningful sacrifice behind it.
