What did you do this past week?

This week I worked on the Darwin project for this class. I was able to get a lot of the basic stuff implemented early on, such as input and output. However, this project feels harder than it needs to be because we’re not allowed to use getters and setters which I have weird workarounds to solve. Besides that project, the main part of my week consisted of participating in HackTX this weekend with my friends. Compared to my first hackathon experience, this one was more fun for me and we were able to get more things implemented compared to last year. There were lots of other cool projects and it was great seeing others demo their creations.

What's in your way?

What’s in my way is the feeling of being overwhelmed. Though it’s probably not as bad as I might be making it out to be, I feel deadlines may be piling on top of me, making me stressed each day. I think I just need to plan out and see what things I have due and schedule time to get it done.

What will you do next week?

Next week, I want to finish Darwin early on so my partner and I can finish up all the details and clean up the code. I think we’re close but subtle details have to be ironed out and we just haven’t found much time to get together to work. Besides that, I need to start preparing for midterms early. I feel that in doing so, I perform better. I also have a couple of coding assessments for some companies I need to sit down to do.

What was your experience of the vector implementation?

The vector implementation is kind of a lot. There are lots of constructors and why things must be a certain way for its implementation to be the way it is. It’s good to know how the underlying foundation for vector works though and I feel like doing the hacker rank together in class helps my understanding a little better.

What's your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip of the week is to hang in there! I believe we have about 24 days left of school? Not completely sure but I can’t wait to just have a day where I can lay in bed and watch movies and not think about school. Have a great week!
