Eagle Point Resort Philippines: the view from the shore

Eagle Point Resort Philippines is located in the southwest end of Anilao, Batangas, [1] and is a three-hour drive away from Tagaytay City through winding mountain roads and a mix of old and old-ish townships along the way. I had a rather unexpected opportunity to stay for a night and a couple of days last week, so here’s how it went.

The way in to the resort is through a secluded, single-lane private road that branches off from a mountain road and winds its way through a fairly thick forest toward — not the main entrance nor a reception area of any description — a parking area, which sits elevated above the resort proper. From there, a jeepney picks you and your luggage up, and it takes you down a steeply declined snake of a road to deposit your person and your belongs in — still not the main entrance nor a reception area of any description — front of a flight of steep, concrete stairs.

On disembarking — and if you haven’t been flattened into a lower body-mass index number after that ride by fellow passengers sliding along the bench-type seats along the sides of the vehicle — the resort welcomes you with friendly and accommodating staff who will help you with your luggage and assist any who may need it down the flight of stairs toward — finally — the main reception area and the front desk. We checked in, got assigned rooms, and went ahead…
