I read this today, and when I turned on my Uber app, there it was: a prompt asking me to turn on its access to my location data “Always”.

Whatever the discourse around it, it’s an awfully steep upgrade in our “relationship,” from the previous “of course, when I’m using the app it totally makes sense to let it know where I am, FOR MY CONVENIENCE,” to let them track me as they please.

Troubling if you remember that one of their executives BOASTED about their access to account data and trip history just to hook up with someone at a dinner.
