Hello World!
An introduction to myself and my blog
My name is Andrew McEwen and welcome to my blog! I wanted to create this first post to give some background information about myself and also explain what kind of content I’m going to be discussing in my blog.
A few quick facts
I’m a student at the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University doing a double degree in Computer Science and Business. I’ve had a passion for software development since I was first introduced to it about 4 years ago, and combining my interest for entrepreneurship gives you my reasoning for why I chose the program I’m in. Currently, I’m beginning my 3rd year but I just recently completed a co-op placement for an organization named PTC, who creates software to help organizations improve product development efficiency. Aside from school and work I’m a huge athletic enthusiast; I’ll play just about any sport but my personal favourites are golf and hockey. Lastly, when I have time to relax I enjoy reading a book or watching a movie. Those are some of the main things to can give you an idea of the type of person I am.
What to expect in my blog
I wanted to create this blog to share my knowledge in software development as well as my opinion on the topics that I’m interested in. In terms of activity, I want to update the blog on a weekly basis at the beginning and hopefully post more frequently in the future. The content will be a fairly wide variety of topics but some of the main topics I want to focus on are web and iOS tutorials and discussions about relevant news in the tech industry. Also I’ll be writing reviews on the movies I watch and books that I read in my spare time. Finally, I will be sharing things that happen in my life such as my co-op experience, activities I participate in, or anything exciting that I think people would enjoy reading about. Again the blog isn’t limited to what I’ve listed, but that can give you a general idea of what to expect.
That’s about it for this post, but I’m looking forward to creating more content for people to come and read on my blog!
