This is my second attempt at documenting my adventures in coding, the first was almost 10 years ago. I have been coding for as long as I can remember — first computer I had was an 8086 and basic programming language and I was about 10. It seemed so modern and exciting then, but looking back now it was only the start of a ridiculous learning experience.
I have worked in all facets of programming — Dos (Basic), PIC chips (Assembly), Early Business Apps (Delphi), XBox360 (C++), and Business Apps (C#). I have a successful funded start-up (even if we have been going for 8 years!), and work a lot in Azure now.
Working in the startup scene and maturing as the company did I got to do less and less coding and more and more business, which I really enjoyed, but recently I have missed the good ole days of writing code that I wanted to write. So I have got back into it, waking up at 5:30 to code for a few hours before work (with kids now its much harder to do it at night!). ITs been a very pleasurable experience and I have really enjoyed it, and I plan to write about anything and everything useful I do here.
I would be pleased if someone gets something out of each article I write, but if not at least I have.
Hackers and the Matrix were two films I lived on growing up, great movies if you have never seen them.
This is our world now. The world of the electron and the switch; the beauty of the baud. We exist without nationality, skin color, or religious bias. You wage wars, murder, cheat, lie to us and try to make us believe it’s for our own good, yet we’re the criminals. Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto.” Huh? Right? Manifesto? “You may stop me, but you can’t stop us all.
