ESPECIALLY personal projects Wes.

We live and breath the startup community in Sydney and cofounders often approach me asking to share experiences and get technology recommendations.

I always point them toward App Engine because it scales DOWN.

Most of the things you’ll host yourself will be free. This is true of most of our enterprise projects actually.

Node is supported on App Engine Flexible, we will eventually move onto Node from Java once we get TypeScript with realtime compilation, which is a way off :)

Best way to try it out is to create a Google Cloud project and go into the App Engine section. Once you choose Node + a region (Australia, yay!) it will give you a whole bunch of resources and suggestions.

Seriously, you won’t look back.
