You’re right, I used “serverless” as a pseudonym for PaaS as I’m writing for a non-technical audience.

If I get you right

The main point I was trying to make is that Google’s PaaS is way ahead of Amazon’s. I don’t consider Amazon’s PaaS a viable alternative.

I also agree that just because it’s better doesn’t mean people know about it.

I don’t think it’s a conspiracy at all, no. Amazon has an amazing marketing engine.

History has seen many amazing products killed by a weaker competitor with stronger marketing.

Amazon has been marketing and selling to the enterprise professionally for years. They hire area managers, sector managers, strategic client people and so on.

Until 2017 Google didn’t do any of that.

I’m very interested to see if they can do a good job of it, as I am a fan of their underlying technical innovation. I’d hate to see them go the same way as Ingres and Betamax.
