Yes this is true of infrastructure people, hence the Turkey voting for Christmas thing, it’s just one of the many irrational objections.

Business people don’t care, they just want to know it’s secure and won’t go down.

The story there is always much stronger.

We’ve only been affected by one full App Engine outage in 5 years and that was for about 18mins in the early morning back in 2012. Google were all over it, posted the status every few minutes and resolved it quickly, with a full and honest report of what had gone wrong.

For the rest of that time our apps have run 24x7, even when we’re doing a deployment. Some other great stories there.

Any other issues they’ve reported have affected 1% of their infrastructure or similar and hasn’t affected our clients in any way except maybe having to hit one or two page refreshes out of thousands.
