Beehiiv or ConvertKit: Who Wins the Email Marketing War? 🚀✉️
My first-hand experience with both Beehiiv and ConvertKit.
I’ve been asked (several times) on Reddit the following:
Which email marketing software should I use, Beehiiv or ConvertKit?
Fun fact: ConvertKit is in the process of rebranding themselves to just “Kit”. Their new website will be kit.com. I just got the email from their team today about this.
Well, it depends.
If someone asks, “should I buy a sports car or a full sized SUV”, how should I answer?
I would personally buy the SUV, because I have a family and we like to go to the cottage.
But who cares? And that doesn’t mean I’d recommend the SUV to everyone.
With Beehiiv and ConvertKit, it isn’t the case that one is better than the other.
They are both great, and there is indeed a lot of overlap. But they also have key differences.

Note: I have experience using both Beehiiv and ConvertKit. I’m currently using Beehiiv for my email needs.
- Beehiiv is cheaper overall (in general) *** See note below
- Beehiiv has better features to grow and monetize your email list
- Beehiiv also doubles as a blog. That means every email can also be found on Google, and therefor attract new users though SEO.
Note*** ConvertKit did recently improve their free plan. You can now use up to 10 000 subscribers on this plan!
Those are pretty big advantages, and they are part of the reason we went with Beehiiv.

But ConvertKit (now Kit) has some advantages too.
It might take me a while to get used to the name change from ConvertKit to Kit. (Just like Twitter and X)
ConvertKit is well known for their wide range of beautiful landing page templates.
I think this is a pretty sleek looking landing page template. And there are a ton of them to choose from.
Look at this nice looking landing page template with a video.
Long story short — ConvertKit (Kit) has better looking form pages and landing pages than Beehiiv.
ConvertKit is also better when it comes to audience segmentation.
With Beehiiv, it is more like you have one master email list — your newsletter.
With ConvertKit, it is easier to segment your list into multiple “mini lists”.
Perhaps some people signed up to get a free ebook about how to do email marketing.
Perhaps other people signed up to get a free PDF about how to do SEO.
You might want to send certain types of emails to the email marketing crowd, and other types of emails and promotions to the SEO portion of your audience.
It is possible to do some segmenting with Beehiiv, but ConvertKit is the winner in this category overall.
Also, with the new branding to Kit, and the new 10 000 email free plan, ConvertKit looks like they are ready to compete.

Pricing matters. Let’s compare.
- Beehiiv: Starts with a free plan, (up to 2500 subscribers). Premium plans offer more features. Generally cheaper than ConvertKit. Beehiiv’s pricing starts at $39 per month, and goes up from there.
- ConvertKit: Free for up to 10,000 emails. Their paid plans also scale up depending on the number of subscribers, but they go up faster than Beehiiv’s pricing.
