There’s Something Fundamentally Wrong in Our Societies Nutrition; Carbohydrates, Grains, & Sugars

After being 3 months removed of any type of grain I can say I feel better than I ever have in my life. My energy levels are ridiculously stupid, I don’t crash, I don’t need a pick me up in the morning, afternoon, or evening. I sleep like a baby and can wake up whenever I want to even after going to bed late because I’m working on a project.

I wanted to make an account on my personal experience because after going 3 months of cutting weight from 185 to 158, while putting some good muscle simultaneously, I began to notice a few things. I have been able to continuously cut weight down to about 9–10% body fat without any hiccups.
Well 1 hiccup because I wasn’t eating enough protein when I started. But besides that after I began keeping track of my food daily it has almost been effortless. It made me think why is that? By the way I’m the type of person who literally hates keeping logs, records, track of numbers. Keeping track of data and I usually have a hate hate relationship. Yet wanting to keep track of my food was oddly easy for me which I’m sure is due to a few things. I wanted to explain that because some people say tracking is hard or annoying to keep up with. I agree my first thought was similar and normally I do hate keeping track of numbers just ask anyone who knows me. But I think tying it in with my long term goal, having the true passion and desire has fueled me to literally not think twice about tracking. Thats right, someone who hates tracking numbers, I haven’t even flinched or missed a day while I began.
Back to the effortless fat loss. Which sounds funny typing it because I’ve never had effortless fat loss before in my life, it’s always been hard for me. I think there’s one major reason it has been so easy, it’s because of carbohydrates.

See I’m writing this while I’m on a refeed day, that means I’m eating foods to spike my insulin and shock my metabolism so I can continue cutting. I didn’t necessarily need to do it, I’ve been dropping consistently, but you know the top fitness experts recommend it so I thought hey all it can do is help right? Right now I have still eaten in my same window I’ve been eating everyday, 8 hours, however I need to eat around 600 more calories then I’m used to. The surprising thing is that I am at 1650 calories for the day right now, and only 4 hours into eating, when normally i would eat 1800–1900 in 8 hours in a given day. Compared to what I’m used to, I’m way over my normal dose of calories I would be at this point.
You’ll see in a second the reason I’m pointing all of this out. When I normally eat during the week I literally struggle eating the 1800 calories not because it’s hard because I’M SO FULL sometimes, that I have to force myself to eat a little bit. I don’t have to force feed myself but sometimes I’ll have an extra meal even though I’m not completely hungry yet. However right now sitting at 1600 calories on my refeed day, after just consuming a 900 calorie meal which on my normal days would absolutely fill me up, I’m less than an hour out from when I ate it and I’m hungry.
You read that right, after having a big 900 nutrient dense meal, not a 900 calorie McDonalds Hamburger meal a home cooked meal which no fake food, all real food, I am beginning to become hungry. The reason that is, is because on refeed days you drop your fat intake to low-moderate, keep protein pretty much the same, but you increase Carbohydrates by a lot. Today I’m supposed to consume 250–300g in carbohydrates in today alone. So my meals have been rich in carbohydrates, and not unhealthy kinds too but healthy whole grains, beans, starches etc. So I’m not even eating what would be eating deemed as unhealthy. I am literally eating, what by the majority of people, would deem as healthy.

Here’s what I have eaten in the past 4 hours, a egg, turkey bacon, kale, spinach, organic cheese, whole grain organic sandwich for my lunch. A light salad with some veggies and beans. As well as 2 cups of dry oatmeal, with 2 cups of 2% milk, 2 scoops of protein powder and cinnamon. All in the span of 4 hours I have had what most people would maybe eat in a full day sometimes and I still “need” one meal. Not to mention I need it for my numbers to hit, but I need it because I’m already hungry.
Alright so some of you are wondering what the heck am I getting at, I haven’t really explained why I’m hungry. For those who haven’t been watching what I’ve been eating while I’ve been getting healthier, I’ve been literally eating 100% whole foods, nutrient dense, moderate to high protein, high fat, low carbs. All of my carb sources on normal days of the weeks are from fruit and vegetables, nothing else. The reason I have been eluding to this whole time is that carbohydrates do not and will not fill you up. That is why most people who eat high grains, starches, vegetables, fruit diets, without protein or fat will eat more and will likely gain weight because they’re hungry constantly. Carbohydrates do not and can not fill you up, they can for like 30 minutes if you eat a lot but your body will metabolize them quickly and it will be like you ate nothing. Then because you’re hungry you seek a quick snack or meal which will likely again be carbohydrate rich. That is why majority of the world is overweight, because they do not know what foods to eat, or they just don’t care. I’m not saying fruits and vegetables are bad because they’re not, they need to be eaten but they don’t fill you up. That’s why vegetarians and vegans have to seek out healthy fats and vegan protein sources. However just because you eat vegetarian, it doesn’t mean you eat right because your body can only use a certain amount of vitamins a day and having tons and tons and tons of vegetables, you’re likely actually just eating empty calories because you already ate enough to hit your micronutrients.
Your body does not store micronutrients for later only macronutrients, that’s why when you take vitamins with too high or wrong dosage, you’ll go to use the bathroom and your pee will look gold. Rich from all the money getting pissed away.
I’m not saying I don’t eat vegetables, what I’m trying to say is you need to find a middle ground. Protein and fat are the 2 most important nutrients, more important than carbohydrates. If you want to stop worrying about being hungry, not eating so much, being able to lose weight, living healthier, etc. you have to eat more protein and fat. I consume no more than 100g of carbs a daily normally, that means I can eat whatever vegetables I want. I don’t have to worry, I eat a lot of vegetables daily and I hit all my vitamin needs and a couple servings of fruit a day too. Besides that most of my meals are protein, fat and vegetable rich. I eat less food, I feel more full, I’m healthier, I hit all my micronutrient and macronutrients now (which now I can do without counting, but I count to for the personal reason of hitting 7% body fat), and I don’t eat 5 salads a day though I do think 1 big salad a day with tons of veggies is great. Inversely I eat 0 grains, processed, fake food. Grains have little reason to be on your plate, every nutrient they provide (which is almost nothing) vegetables provide, in better quality and quantity. Breads and grains have just become a filler in the world of culinary, they’re a filler for breakfast, something to put your food on, appetizer before dinner, extra added space on your plate to make it look more full. Guess what, they don’t fill you up, that portion of protein and fat are why you are getting full.

I would like to say grains literally provide, little to no health benefit, there’s almost no reason to consume them. The problem is that most people just haven’t learned how to live without them. Because they wouldn’t know what to do for breakfast, Here’s a hint make an omelet. They wouldn’t know what to have their sandwich or eat with their protein, Here’s a hint stop eating sandwiches, that meat is just processed crap, and eat your protein with fat and vegetables.
I won’t go into full detail with the full extent of why a high fat dat and moderate protein, low carb is so good for your energy, mood, appetite, brain, endurance, and just plain overall health, because I have another article about that. What I will say is that when you learn that you don’t need bread, grains, and sugars to live, you learn how to live off real food that is naturally grown or made that isn’t processed or manufactured in a lab or factory, you live a healthier and better life. Literally I can give you what my meals consist of in 3 words protein, fat, vegetables and then I snack on fruit, or even fat (nuts). I eat on average 2–2.5 meals a day currently, I feel full, I don’t have any health problems, any energy, mood, appetite problems. All because I stopped putting sugar into my brain and body, yes most grains and starches are just sugar.
I’m not here to indoctrinate you saying you have to live healthier. What I’m trying to point out is there’s something fundamentally wrong with our society and whats being put on T.V., schools, internet and other media sources. We’re teaching everyone a lot of wrong things to do and we progressively have become more and more unhealthy as a nation. There needs to be a change or else we will just continue to go downhill in health.
In conclusion what I’ll say because I know I hit on vegetarians a little bit, there’s nothing unhealthy with vegetarian/vegan lifestyles. What’s unhealthy is when people consume too many carbohydrates, too much salt, sugar, processed, fake food, and not enough fat and protein. I want to make it clear I’m not throwing carbohydrates completely under the bus, just the over consumption of them, and the wrong kinds.
If you want to live healthier eat real food, that is grown on this earth. Food that is made naturally, make sure you eat enough vegetables, fruit, proteins, and fats. Don’t skimp on your protein and fat. If you want to learn how to live healthier and don’t exactly know how or want help here’s my free blueprint for health and nutrition.
