I’ve decided to do something different and replicate one of my photo idol’s, Pete Souza (Chief Official White House Photographer), and put together a flashback of my 2015 entirely in photos. A lot of the photos are taken by me, some may be from other people, and a fair amount are from my phone or instagram, as I’ve used that a lot more in 2015 as a way of cataloguing small details in my life and intimate moments I never have a DSLR on hand for.
Without further ado… Here’s 2015
So the year started with a job interview at the BBC, which didn’t go anywhere… and I then passed my driving test on the 20th January Talking of driving, here’s my driving instructor at a Wrestling party for his son.. And then whilst I was still scraping the barrel of the dreaded Job Centre, I was hired to go on a UK tour with the band Woodward (don’t google em, they’re split up now) A week with these lads on tour taught me more than a month of A-Level photography lessons… And obviously I can’t forget about spending 3/4’s of 2015 with this one… And all too soon it was the start of April and I was shooting the Lost Dials at the Birmingham 02 Academy Followed quickly by a trip to PGL with my cubs for 5 days Which I quickly ran back from PGL to London on the sunday evening and shot the Lost Dials again at the Camden Barfly in mid-April The end of April brought my 4th year to Udine, and working as part of their FEFF journalist campus And I got to interview/meet Jackie Chan And spent 12 days with the best group of journalists from across the world on an impromptu apprenticeship that was pretty spectacular… Then returned back to the UK and shot the band THE TIDES at the HMV FORUM Whilst May brought nothing much, asides a day of easternKicks planning and one of the best films i’ve ever seen.. But then the first week of June, I was back at Surya in Islington with the band IRON HANDS and my favourite film of the year JURASSIC WORLD was watched on the premiere day! Closely followed by a trip back to Gilwell Park for Fundays, and photoception… Then the end of June brought the London Pride event where over 100 Scouts marched through the streets.. and the hashtag #CHEEKYWAHACA was born Along with a weekend at the regular Network Festival in Coventry at the start of July and hopping straight back to Gilwell Park the weekend afterwards for Gilwell 24 The weekend after Gilwell 24 was a fashion shoot in Notting Hill for the carnival… and sadly, my nan died. The end of July brought a jamboree, Run To The Fun, in Plymouth at Mount Edgcumbe Where we ran a radio station/activity on site for all the scouts Following which I dashed back to London in August for lunch with my old friend Winston Wong And then dinner again in mid-August with all the London Scout Media gang… its just like Scooby Doo, but with more cameras! And the last week in August, I flew out to Eurobike in Germany with work! Where we went to a VIP press party at a fucking private rented CASTLE!!!!!! I did mention Eurobike right? Oh and the weekend after Eurobike was Gilwell Reunion. The less said about my antics… September brought the best night out of my year, at Secret Cinema’s EMPIRE STRIKES BACK The fortnight afterwards was our annual Cub Camp And my explorers made a mess… Following which was my birthday on the 27th September, and a KnucklePuck gig with Tom Hylands After which, I discovered in October that Life is a magic Pizza And I battled with Olly on the seesaw at the Youshape training weekend Where we also had the most excellent of fires at Dearne Valley for Youshape… And the end of October brought Scout Radio to SCAREFEST at Gilwell Park Where Scarefest had the best lazer and fireworks show i’ve ever seen The Monday directly after Scarefest was the 10th edition of the London Korean Film Festival And the following weeks lead to our filming the Bike Of The Year awards for Cycling Weekly in the Lakes Oh and in November I also went to watch a WWE House Show with Tom Bloomfield and caught a really good film afterwards… Leaping into December brought more meetups with this chap who’s moving to London And the final London Scout Media meetup of the year, Steak & Lobster at the Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Square Oh, and STAR WARS happened with Dad… Then quite suddenley it was an impromptu Christmas dinner with this lovely one.. And suddenly it was a Happy New Year! So if you ve made it through all that, well done! ’ And enjoy my ‘end of year’ Showreel of footage..
