Recently I traveled to Greece for the first time, and like many I was immediately struck by its natural beauty. The mix of not just scenic sensory overload, but also the gravity of being in a place so rich in history is awe-inspiring.

Those two influences are prevalent in many forms of artwork. Feeling inspired, here are a few Greek-themed tattoo designs that I really enjoy.

Greek Symbol of Strength

I love this symbol, either with or without the circle around it. I could see this placed on an arm or shoulder blade and really popping.

Medusa

For many people, the first thing that comes to mind when they think of Greece is Ancient Greek mythology. This extremely detailed Medusa tattoo showcases one of Greece’s most famous mythical creatures.

The Greek Flag

Greece’s iconic flag colors — blue and white — immediately conjure up imagery of clear blue waters and white sand beaches. There are many tattoo variations of the Greek flag, but I love the design and placement of this one.

Spartan Helmet

The Spartans were known as some of the fiercest warriors to ever live. If you’re looking for a tattoo that conveys strength, bravery, or honor, the Spartan helmet is immediately recognizable and fundamentally Greek.

Santorini Cliffside

One of the most famous images (and photo spots) in Greece is that of the cliffside town of Oia on the island of Santorini. I love the colors in this tattoo, and I’m immediately transported back to Greece just looking at it!
