Why SEO is not the answer in 2016

With 2016 in the full swing of things, Donald Trump looks to be the winner on the Republican side, Trudeau is trying to legalize marijuana and also drop taxes for small businesses. Mobile use is still increasing 120% YOY.

Now that people are really starting to understand the reality of digital marketing and its importance to today’s business model, we really need to start shifting our mentality away from SEO. Everyone is still talking about SEO and how they need to do it as SEO is very important for ranking on Google, but I don’t think that is the answer for 2016 and this is coming from a digital marketer who offers SEO.

Back in 2009 -2010 to achieve success (the answer) you did SEO, so SEO was techinally the answer. Now in 2016 SEO is not the answer. It is part of the equation and not even the biggest part of the equation. Social Media Marketing is the biggest thing to be involved with in today’s age of progressive and fast moving technology. With 1.7 BILLION users on Facebook, Facebook is one major platform to be advertising your company. Someone on Facebook’s database must be your target market, its just your job to figure out how you’re going to reach them.

Digital marketing companies are still advising to go full force with SEO because it has the biggest profits for them. A credible Marketing Agency should instruct you to spend a little less on SEO and allocate those funds to Social Media. But, lets be clear, just posting stuff on social media is not going to get your message out. Make sure your distribution on social media is done correctly because it may do more harm than good.
