Who has more triple-doubles than LeBron James? Who is one of Michael Jordan’s favorite players? Who is more feared than former MVP’s Kevin Durant and Steph Curry? The answer to all three questions may not surprise you; it’s none other than Oklahoma City’s superstar guard, Russell Westbrook. The fearless fashion icon put on a show Monday night and it wasn’t on a runway. While Klay Thompson was making it rain in the Bay Area; Russell was bringing the thunder in Atlanta. He put up 32 points, 12 assists and 13 rebounds in a 102–99 win and kept his triple-double streak alive at six straight games! This is two away from passing NBA royalty: MJ and “The big O”- Oscar Robertson, and four away from breaking the all-time record set by Wilt Chamberlain in 1968. So far this season, Russ is averaging 31 points, 10.9 rebounds and 11.3 assists. With one quarter of the season in the books, he is trying to achieve the incredible feat of averaging a triple-double. The only player to do that in NBA history is the afore-mentioned Oscar Robertson who also holds the record for most triple doubles in a season, 41. Oklahoma City is now 14–8 and if the Thunder are missing Kevin Durant, they certainly aren’t showing it.
