One dead after smoke fills D.C. Metro station, forcing evacuation (New York Times, Washington Post, DC Inno)
One person is dead dead and two critically injured as L’Enfant Plaza filled with smoke yesterday. The incident began at around 3:20 p.m. Monday. An an “electrical arcing event” is being blamed for the smoke, according to the NTSB. Read the horrifying accounts from riders who were on the same smoke-filled train where a woman died.
FBI investigates Central Command Twitter, YouTube accounts hacked (CNBC, Reuters)
@CENTCOM’s Twitter and YouTube accounts were compromised on Monday in what is being described as an “embarrassing” attack on the Pentagon’s social media accounts. Defense officials have confirmed that the accounts and information posted during the attack are not classified.
CNBC: The first message was posted at 12:29 p.m. ET, with the words “AMERICAN SOLDIERS, WE ARE COMING, WATCH YOUR BACK. ISIS.” and the hashtag “#CyberCaliphate.”
