There is far too much hyperbolic doom and gloom BS being slung around the internet about Donald Trump by people on the left. People equate him to Hitler, call him a piece of shit, a scumbag, a maniac, and a racist pig. It’s all hate filled fear mongering and reactionary base level nonsense in my opinion. Things are always more nuanced than that. It’s very important to remain centered and to constantly sniff out the truth, because it’s incredibly easy to be brainwashed by the media on both sides of the political isle. We need to remind ourselves that human beings act differently when a camera is pointed at them and Donald Trump obviously plays that up to the max, being the charismatic, non-self aware man child that he is. He’s not a maniac or an idiot. He’s an impulsive, boorish rich dude who loves having his ego stroked, and happens to have a wacky mixed bag of opinions about the world. In fact, from what I’ve read, a lot of people of all varieties who have spent time with or worked for Hillary do not like her at all, and it seems to be the opposite in many cases for Trump. Who knows?
The way Penn Jillette, a hardcore atheist liberal, describes spending time with him is exactly what I’ve always suspected; that Donald Trump is an interesting, smart, flawed man, who loves attention, and is not at all presidential material. Jillette also wisely points out that just because people have radically different opinions than yours does not mean you cannot be friends with them. In fact, we should be attempting to befriend and listen to those who are different from us much more than those we agree with. Other wise we might as well live in an echo chamber, huddle together forever in our little tribes, and stunt social progress all together:
