Reimagining Acura: Introduction
Released in 1986, the first and second generation Acura Legend was well regarded in automotive and enthusiasts spheres, winning accolades from Motor Trend and others. Ludacris still drives his (recently refurbished) ’93 version.
Acura’s innovation largely ended with the RL in the 1996 model year. Since then, Acura has produced uninspired sedans: RL, TL, TSX, RLX, ILX and now the TLX. Largely based on their Honda counterparts, the leadership of the company seems to be unable to decide who they are. Should Acura vehicles be known for engineering, sport or luxury?
Instead of advances, Acura has added excitement through the letter X.
