“The individual who wants to reach the top in business must appreciate the might and force of habit. He must be quick to break those habits that can break him and hasten to adopt those practises that will become the habits that help him achieve the success he desires.” — J. Paul Getty

Are you tired of being at the bottom line of your family, school, career, or field? If so, you are welcome here because I am here to give you seven steps to take to get to the top in your field, business, study, or any other criteria. Enjoy yourself as you read along.

Step 1: Arise Earlier

“The early morning has gold in its mouth.” — Benjamin Franklin

Why do I say arise earlier? If you wake up earlier, you have more time to get things done while others are still asleep. If you normally wake up at 6 a.m., why not make it 5 a.m., 4:30 a.m., or even 4 a.m., just the time you can handle? It might not be comfortable for you at first, but the result will be worth it.

If you have to go to bed early to wake up earlier, reduce the Netflix or video games you play before going to bed.

Okay, let’s say you are now waking up an hour earlier every day. That is:

7 hours a week

30 hours a month

360 hours a year

360 hours a year is a lot; that is equivalent to 15 full days for you to prepare for your work, study, and other things.

If you are a student, you have 360 hours to read that others don’t. If you are a worker, you have 360 hours to read, learn, and improve your skills to be more valuable and get more promotions than other co-workers. If you are an entrepreneur, you have 360 hours to learn more about your business and move to the top of the marketplace.

If you wake up 1 hour, 30 minutes earlier, that is 540 hours, and if it is 2 hours earlier, that is 720 hours.

Most CEOs, billionaires, and millionaires wake up before 6 a.m. So if you have one of them as a role model or you want to be one, consider waking up early just like them.

Step 2: Rewrite your goals every day

“Review your goals twice every day to be focused on achieving them.” — Les Brown

Rewriting your goal every day will help the goal sink into your subconscious mind. This will often prevent you from giving up, even at the peak of struggle.

Some don’t rewrite their goals every day, but they see them very often by having them all around them. It is often the first thing they see when they wake up in the morning and the last thing they see when going back to bed. It is their wallpaper. It is on their vision board.

When they are faced with a struggle, the picture of their dream house, car, and role model reminds them of the reason they started in the first place, and then they keep pushing forward.

Step 3: Plan every day in advance

“Plan your day; otherwise, others will plan it for you.” — Les Brown

You need to plan every one of your days the day before. Sometimes you can even spend 15–30 minutes on Sunday to plan that full week.

Some successful people plan 30–40 days. This will help you identify what you need to do every day, and you will be able to prioritise doing the right and most impactful things before anything else. You won’t go through the day forgetting what you are meant to do.

These are the first three steps you have to take to find your way to the top in your field. I will be dropping the remaining four in my next post. Make sure you check it out to have the full knowledge of finding your way to the top.
