Another week, another five songs for you to try.
Let’s begin!
Track 1: Allie X — All The Rage
Continuing additions to COLLXTION II UNSOLVD Spotify playlist, Allie X makes another strong synthpop anthem that (pending an excellent reception by Spotify listeners) will be on her upcoming EP. In this song, the singer songwriter talks about her future as a famous star. With more songs at this level of infectiousness, I’m sure she’ll be “all the rage” sooner rather than later!
Track 2: Shura — What Happened To Us?
Shura’s debut album was just released last Friday, and aside from her first single (which has already been featured on here), this is another of the standout tracks on it. With glistening guitars, Shura sings about a past relationship and really digs into the question mark placed at the end of the track’s title. An uptempo sad song that is good for long, contemplative drives.
Track 3: Martin Garrix — Ooops
As someone I follow on Twitter said, this song “copies” Anamanaguchi’s and Porter Robinson’s “style,” however whether or not you agree with that I still think this track is a great EDM/Chiptune hypefest. I definitely see a lot of DJs playing with all different types of sounds nowadays as opposed to having one set style, and I think music is the better for it.
Track 4: Biffy Clyro — Animal Style
If you aren’t from the UK, you probably do not know about Biffy Clyro, a Scottish rockband that has been around since the 90s. This song is off their latest release, Ellipse, and for me continues their amazing dominance of rock music. It’s just a song to do crazy shit to.
Track 5: Steve Aoki x Autoerotique — ILYSM-Original (w/ Autoerotique)
Speaking of DJs going outside of their typical genres, this collaboration between Aoki and Autoerotic takes the best parts of house and the best parts of eletro and mashes them together in a dancefloor-filling, fist-pumping, booty shaking get down. Yes.
