The Sex Addict (2017) review

The Sex Addict is a mockumentary style comedy from independent production company Burning Bridge Pictures. The film is about a PhD student, Suzanna (Valerie Tosi), who decides to document a sex addict called Rex (Amir Mo) for her dissertation in sex psychology. We see the lengths that Rex will go to so he can satisfy his addiction, and how his addiction is affecting his everyday life. The Sex Addict does have some very funny moments. It is clear that Mo understands how to write and perform for the comedy genre, with most of the laughs being a result of his performance. Valerie Tosi and Caleb Thomas have their moments throughout the film as well, supporting Mo’s performance. There are some hit and miss moments with the comedy, with some moments feeling a little too forced or over the top, meaning some of the comedy can fall flat at times. However, for the most part, The Sex Addict is an entertaining and funny film and one that is worth taking a look at. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this film but Amir Mo has delivered a solid comedy film here, and it will be exciting to see how Mo’s work progresses in future projects.

Available to buy from 28th April 2017 on Blu-ray, DVD, iTunes and VOD.
