Editorial research and how its informed my own work

From my research into editorial practitioners, I felt a strong force on my own visual language for this project. Gerald Scarfe’s vibrant and grotesque ink drawings pushed me to develop my work around the grand national and begin using inks myself. Over all I am happy with the quality of line I am creating through this medium as it is aiding my communication of the issue effectively. Ben Tallon’s use of photoshop to digitally layer, re design and arrange hand drawn illustrations creates very dynamic work. I have already developed an understanding of photoshop but through this project I have learnt new ways to manipulate my own drawings into more refined and polished pieces of work. I hope my ink drawings will take shape in a zine as my final outcome.
