THE SYSTEM to ensure you complete your goals with ABSOLUTE FOCUS and CONFIDENCE

How to put the right environmental factors in place so that you take willpower and motivation out of the equation and guarantee success

I’ve learned this past year from attempting to accomplish goals, that if you don’t do a fill on “blitz” on them, you’re unlikely to succeed. Being in the “information age” it’s too easy to get distracted by an abundance of resources and new things to do. That’s why I’ve created this system to take goals more seriously and with more focus than ever before, enjoy!

  1. PUT AN UNCOMFORTABLY LARGE DEPOSIT OF MONEY DOWN TO SOMEONE YOU TRUST!

When you give someone else money that they have to hold onto and only give back when you complete your goal, you make that decision to stop at nothing until your goal is complete. Otherwise, you can use the excuse of procrastination because you really have nothing to lose until then.

2. WORK BACKWARDS FROM IT BEING COMPLETED!

Want to make $10,000 in a month? Ask yourself what are all the actions that could produce that. Selling 100 products at $100? Selling 10 products at $1,000? How do you get to those points? Want to lose 30 pounds? How many calories will you need to burn/consume each day? How many miles will you need to run/bike/swim? Once you work backward, you should be able to know the ONE thing you can do each day to make progress towards that long term goal. Whether it’s building a website, going to the gym, or asking people out on dates, put the odds in your favor!

3. HAVE A SMALL WAY TO REWARD YOURSELF AT THE END OF EACH DAY AND A HUGE WAY TO REWARD YOURSELF WHEN PROJECT IS COMPLETE!

Okay if you’re trying to lose weight maybe you shouldn’t reward yourself with ice cream each day. Maybe you can reward yourself with a netflix show, calling a friend/family member, anything you know will feel good to do. When you complete the BIG project at the end, maybe take yourself and the family to Disneyland! Or go to an all-you-can-eat buffet! CELEBRATE YOUR SUCCESS!

4. REVIEW YOUR 7 “WHY’S” OF COMPLETING YOUR GOAL!

When you think about your goal/project, you should be as surprised and curious about it as this cat. An example of the 7 “why’s” technique looks like this-

Q. Why do you want to lose 30 pounds? -So I can have more energy

Q. Why do you want to have more energy? -So I can do more adventures with my family

Q. Why do you want to do more adventures with my family? -Because I’m tired of falling behind/not being able to do the hikes

Q. Why don’t you want to fall behind on your hikes? -Because I want to be a role model about what being in good shape should look like.

You basically keep doing this until you ask “why” 7 times and that should get to the core of your reasoning and force you to get it done at all cost.

5. WATCH MOTIVATIONAL STORIES AND VIDEOS AS NEEDED!

Watching motivational videos and hearing incredible stories helps remind us, “if they can do x, I can do y.” For example, I was reading recently about a woman who just got done escaping North Korea where she had to travel over 6,000 miles just to get to safety. At any point of those 6,000 miles, she could have been captured and turned in where she would be sent back to North Korea and tortured and killed. So I remind myself that if someone can travel 6,000 miles through hostile territory, surely I can learn how to build a profitable business.

6. FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU CAN OUTSOURCE/DELEGATE!

Now that you’ve worked backwards from your goal and are pumped up to achieve it, might as well make it easier on yourself and lighten the load! Brainstorm ways you can outsource/delegate your tasks so you can be more productive and efficient with your time. There are all kinds of virtual assistants and websites out there that can take certain tasks off your plate and make life easier for you. Utilize them! Examples include, fiverr.com, fancyhands.com, upwork.com, the list goes on and on.

7. ASK FOR HELP AS NEEDED!

Some of you may already know the answers to how you can accomplish your goals and some of you may not. And that’s okay! There’s a very high chance that the goal you’re after, someone has already accomplished it. So why not ask and research how they did it? There are countless resources out there of methods and strategies and techniques to make sure you reach your goal. Tap into them! Utilize Google, Youtube, and even LinkedIn and be okay with asking for help! There’s a quote I like by Abraham Lincoln who said, “If you ask me to chop down a tree in 6 hours, I’m going to spend 4 hours sharpening my ax.” Figure out how you’re going to tackle your goal and then jump in!

8. HAVE ACCOUNTABILIBUDDIES!

Studies consistently show that when you do something with other people around, you usually perform higher. Get someone else to work on a similar (if not the same) goal as you and hold each other accountable and constantly learn from each other! I’m also a competitive person and it makes it fun and exciting when I’m doing a collaborative competition and working towards the same goal as someone who’s starting at a similar stage as me and we’re figuring out how to accomplish it together. Also, when you’re doing the challenge with someone else, it helps to hold you accountable as well!

9. TRACK AND MEASURE YOURSELF TO SEE VISUAL PROGRESS!

If you’re not tracking yourself, you can’t feel good about the progress your’re making. Even if you don’t feel like you’re making progress, you should be tracking the ways and methods you’re using to attempt to make progress. If you’re not measuring and tracking, you’re unable to evaluate what’s working and what’s not working. I can assure you, if you track yourself making progress towards your goals in some way every day for at least 30 days, at the end of those 30 days, it’s a good feeling being able to look back and see what you accomplished.

10. PLAN AHEAD!

Schedule out when you’re going to work on your project/goal in your calendar and put reminders in your phone when you’re going to do the tasks. When you’re planning one step ahead, you’re able to figure out when and where you’re able to work on your task. This way you can be focused on getting it done at that time.

11. ELIMINATE DISTRACTIONS!

Focused work is one of the most important aspects of completing your goal. Make “precious time” for it and enjoy the process! Focused work should usually include creating content, rather than just consuming content. While working on the task, put your phone on “airplane mode” and set a “focus timer” of 30 minutes or more to eliminate distractions. No social media for the day until you work on your projects! (unless your project literally includes using social media) Everyone else is already consuming all the time. It’s your turn to be a creator. I just got done reading a piece of life advice from the New York Times that mentions, “In life there are 2 types of workers, ditch diggers & those who tell them how to dig the ditch. Decide who you want to be & do it 100%.”

If you’re only consuming all the time, there’s a great chance you’ll be told what to do all time rather than creating the business that tells other people what to do.

12. STAY ENERGIZED!

When you’re “out of energy/willpower,” exercise and move locations if needed! There’s a high chance that when you’re working on your goal, you’ll eventually hit that “wall.” Instead of letting it defeat you, there are multiple ways to fight back. They include exercising, drinking energy drinks, taking power naps and even moving locations! When you do something to energize yourself and remember your 7 why’s you’re able to push through and make the progress you need towards your goals!

So there you have it, this is THE SYSTEM I’ll be using to accomplish everything I set my mind to these next few months and make 2019 the best year yet!
