D.M. 2017

When the dust has settled in,

The room shut,

The world soaked clean,

What does the mirror show?

You see, my existence is a trick of the light,

A comet moving at a speed

That gives the impression of permanence.

My figure hollowed, I morph, adapt.

My body is multipurpose;

I can be a ruler, a subject, an enigma, an instigator.

My eyes, lips, smile are bespoke

Just for your enjoyment.

My quest for you is to unearth

The pit in my malleable flesh,

The unmoving core of my identity,

Within this amorphous void.

Hopefully it hasn’t rotted yet.

Author’s Note: You guys have been so sweet! This one was based off me being, as Taylor Swift calls it, a “mirrorball” and never knowing where I truly am as a person.
