All My T-Shirts Are From Everlane
and why I’ll never shop for t-shirts from a department store again.
Buying clothes has always been tough for me. I generally know what I like when I want to dress to impress, but I’ve always found it difficult to find casual clothing that look good, feel good, and don’t break the bank.
A few months back, I placed my first order on Everlane.com for 3 t-shirts (Antique, Huckleberry, and Black). Everlane promises the best quality products from the best factories — the same ones, they claim, that make high-end designer labels. What mattered the most to me though, were the nice hues and the $15 price tag.

I didn’t have very high expectations. I hoped they would be better quality than stuff you’d find at Target, but for $15 I expected something along the lines of the shirts Woot.com makes (which were my previous t-shirt staple). Anything better than that (American Apparel’s 50/50 for example) would have been beyond my expectations.
Did Everlane destroy those expectations? You bet they did.

Have you ever passed those mall stores which have $80, basic t-shirts? They feel amazing to the touch — a perfect balance of thickness in material, but so soft you knew that the “100% cotton” label on their shirt was in a completely different league from yours? That is what Everlane t-shirts are like. But for $15.
If you’ve never felt those shirts for yourself, give it a try. Next time you’re at the mall, walk into those little boutiques that seem like they’d carry nice stuff, but at prices that give you sticker shock. Here are some examples (all basic shirts, made of just 100% cotton): a James Perse t-shirt for $85, a Vince. t-shirt for $48, or even a Burberry shirt for $160. The prices may be ridiculous, but damn, they feel fine.
Fast forward a few months and I have 11 Everlane tshirts (in different colors, and some of which are V-necks). You’ll rarely catch me not wearing one, and if you do it’s probably because I forgot to do the laundry the night before. I also tried their hoodie, and have been extremely happy with it.
Indivuality is a beautiful thing, and by no means do I want everyone to wear the same thing. But next time you’re considering dropping $10+ on a t-shirt at Target (or $30+ at your nearest department store…) consider taking a look at Everlane.
P.S. Free shipping if you buy more than 1 item, and they carry lots of things other than tshirts.
