Thank you, Cary, for spelling out your approach in detail instead of relying on empty hand-waving gestures. These are good first steps, but I am eager to learn more about how you would work with Seattle City Council to improve the regulatory environment around adding to the housing supply. It is one thing to curtail speculators with a foreign investment tax, but in a city where new attached townhomes are now selling for upwards of $750k, we simply need more housing. Will you support O’Brien’s Backyard Cottage initiative and open up more single family zones to broader development? Who else in city government and local neighborhoods can we count on for support?
