Just two days after locking up the Democratic nomination for governor, the Beshear/Coleman campaign is announcing the endorsement from the Kentucky State AFL-CIO.

Bill Londrigan, President of the Kentucky State AFL-CIO, stated: “The Kentucky State AFL-CIO, which represents more than 100,000 hard-working Kentuckians, proudly endorses Andy Beshear for governor and Jacqueline Coleman for lieutenant governor of Kentucky. As Attorney General, Andy Beshear has consistently and vigorously opposed the anti-union, anti-worker agenda of Governor Bevin. Attorney General Beshear has stood with teachers, support staff and state workers against attacks on their pensions, with organized labor against the anti-union right-to-work-for-less law, and with construction workers in opposition to the repeal of the state’s prevailing wage law. Kentucky’s unions will undertake an unprecedented effort to elect Andy and Jacqueline, and defeat Bevin and the Koch Brothers’ anti-worker agenda.”

Andy Beshear added, “It’s an honor to have the support and trust of the Kentucky State AFL-CIO. I’ll be a governor who not only respects and listens to workers, but also fights for policies that make it easier for them to earn a good living and get ahead. While Matt Bevin only helps his special interest donors, I care about expanding access to affordable health care for our families and making sure workers have the training and skills they need to get good-paying jobs. I look forward to working side-by-side with workers and labor unions across the commonwealth to organize and defeat Matt Bevin in November.”
