Kentucky Steelworkers Union Backs Beshear for Governor

The Beshear/Coleman campaign is announcing the endorsement of United Steelworkers District 8 out of Frankfort, which represents 17,000 active or retired steelworkers in Kentucky.

“When it comes to defending Kentucky workers, the choice is clear,” said USW District 8 Director Billy Thompson. “Andy Beshear will always fight for Kentucky’s working families and good-paying jobs, not wealthy special interests. We’re proud to support him to be our next governor.”

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of United Steelworkers District 8,” said Andy Beshear. “Matt Bevin has made it clear: he cares more about out-of-state CEOs than Kentucky’s working families. Kentuckians deserve a governor who will support affordable health care, a secure retirement, and respect the rights of workers like access to safe working conditions and wages that can support a family. Jacqueline Coleman and I will lead an administration that supports Kentucky workers instead of tearing them down.”

Andy Beshear is set to meet with leaders of USW District 8 later today.

In recent weeks, several labor unions and organizations have announced their support for Andy Beshear and Jacqueline Coleman, including the Kentucky Education Association and the Kentucky State AFL-CIO, citing the Beshear/Coleman ticket’s commitment to working families across Kentucky.
