Great article, but when it comes to GMOs my fear is that the scientists could be wrong. The effects may not be known or seen for decades. There have been plenty of things that we believed were healthy in the past that we now gawk and laugh at in disbelief.
I do believe that GMO’s could be healthy and fine. However, without very extensive and long term studies it’s very hard to truly grasp the long term effects on humans. We don’t know if there are small variations that could over time lead to increases in certain diseases that are neurological or physical. Are we even sure yet why early onset of puberty has become more and more common place? Are their external or environmental factors that contribute to things like autism? I’m not trying to be a fear mongerer. And I’m not saying GMOs are responsible for those things. However, it would be prudent to be as careful as possible when modifying genes that have naturally developed over millions of years, and of which we understand little.
Maybe I’m way off base. But that’s my two cents.
