I agree with this point. Like the Management of Conflict and Consensus section states “conflict occurs because people are pursuing different interests”.
The only way this group is going to survive is if they collaborate and come to a consensus to what they should pursue. Individuals in this particular group however will have a hard time appreciating the ideas of other members if the ideas contradict or come from a different worldview. Additionally, since the group might not have much time for “orientation” as outlined in Fisher’s model they lack that bond of trust needed that will allow members to develop speak openly without fear of losing control of the situation if they voice their own concerns and are shut down by other members.
The result might be that for the leader (Jack) to create smaller groups, some members that focus on gathering food, others that focus on finding a way out.
