Whilst I realise you have big aims for the navigation facilities on the Karoo, there is no getting away from the fact that it is not currently fit for purpose to many users. I have never once managed to complete a ride with navigation throughout. I have used the Developer Options to clear and reset data as instructed and yet still the navigation fails whilst riding.
The most recent example of this was when I recently did a 3 day bikepack and the navigation would obviously have been very useful indeed. Despite having a SIM installed, to be sure I downloaded all the map tiles to use Offline anyway. When starting the route on day 1, having made sure I had a good 3G signal beforehand, I was told navigation was not available offline and all I could then do was follow the route on screen without navigation prompts! Clearly I was not offline and in any event had all the map tiles downloaded regardless. This was for a route on rural public roads not even paths. Before I could even start riding I was then told “Unofrtunately HX Navigation Service has stopped” so had to clear that to continue. I visually followed the route on day 1 ok and, after similar error messages again, did the same on day 2. However, on day 3, no matter how many times I cleared the message about the HX Navigation Service stopping, it reappeared, meaning I couldn’t even see the route on screen to visually follow the route. After many minutes of tinkering in Settings, I decided to use Developer Options to manually stop all Services that mentioned HX in the title, of which there were quite a few. and then restart the Karoo. First time this worked ok and got me back to the same position on days 1 & 2, i.e. where I could visually follow the route on screen after the usual error messages. After lunch however, despite doing the exact same thing, even on restart I got the same repeating HX error messages. I rode navigating from my paper map for some time whilst repeating the same routine, closing all HX Services and restarting. Only after several cycles of this was I able to return to the same already restricted ability to at least follow the route on screen.
I love the battery life and always on screen of the Karoo when it works and would dearly love for you to succeed in sorting out the navigation functions so that they are at least useable. At present, its main selling point is just not functional at all from my experiences to date.
