The pictures of damage to towns seem to indicate very high wind speeds, in excess of 150km/hr. Nobody expects this in South Australia.

When people talk of “one in 50 year events” in the Australian context they have to be very careful. There are only roughly 200 years of weather records. You need more history to make statements of this type.
