Well I can’t discount your observations, but it’s anecdotal. It’d be interesting if there was a study that confirmed your perception. Personally, I think every Presidential candidate gets vitriol and that extends into their time in office. It’s a byproduct of having a free society.

I think Hillary is disliked not because she’s a woman (hear equivalent vitriol about Jill Stein?), but because she’s dangerous, dishonest, and self-serving.
