What exactly is Impact Hub Birmingham?
Impact Hub Birmingham is a membership based, physical space where like minded individuals and organisations can come and work together. Learn from each other and inspire each other. It will host a broad range of events curated in tandem with businesses, communities and anyone with a passion. It could be a breakfast talk hosted by a law firm, a hackathon looking at housing issues or a sewing group creating soft furnishings and friendships. Nothing is set in stone except our passion to make this idea a reality.
We’re a diverse team of individuals at Impact Hub Birmingham but we’re drawn together by a belief in our city and a belief in our citizens that they can have the greatest impact on it’s future. We don’t claim to have all the answers, no one single group or organisation does. And that’s the point. We need to create an environment driven by engagement and conversation. Where you can get support for your latest business idea or be inspired to tackle a new problem. Fostering collaboration so that you can work with people from backgrounds in art, science, media, technology or a young person who has actually experienced the problem your trying to solve.
And this is what we mean by a platform for purpose, the Impact Hub can be the place you go to with a problem, an idea or a passion and find a group of people who can help.
It’s sometimes difficult to imagine how this will all happen but we will be hosting lots of workshops and co-design sessions so everyone can get involved and give us their opinions. And we can answer any questions people may have. So please keep asking us questions and keep the conversations going. We won’t shy away from criticism or cynicism because that doesn't help anyone, not us, not you and definitely not Birmingham.
If you want to join us please pledge to our Kickstarter campaign, share it with all your friends or just keep the questions coming, Tweet me using @andyreevo. I believe that a city can only flourish when it’s citizens get involved in building it and this is us putting our flag in the ground and inviting everyone to get involved.
