So do you replace one of the tools I suggested with BetterTouchTool?

BetterTouchTool can replace ShiftIt for window snapping (dragging or keyboard/gesture-triggered) and KeyboardMaestro (for the less complex actions). BTT supports app-specific triggers which override global triggers.

Alfred is a great app. Although BTT allows you to launch certain predefined apps, it’s nowhere near as flexible as Alfred. That said, Spotlight is catching back up to Alfred, especially with extensions like Flashlight: http://flashlight.nateparrott.com. Spotlight will also search files but I usually turn the file index off because I prefer my own organization system or use CLI find.

By the way, for remapping CapsLock, I use Seil on Karabiner’s recommendation.
